Pharmaceutical Security Labels with QR Codes

This specialised two-label security set is designed for pharmaceutical packaging applications. It supports product authentication, packaging integrity control, and the detection of unauthorised opening, removal or label reapplication.

The two labels can be applied to different sides of the package, positioned across separate opening points, or used to protect both primary and secondary packaging. The application layout is selected according to the design of the carton, bottle, vial, blister pack or other pharmaceutical packaging format.

The solution combines physical, visual and digital protection elements. It can be used for medicines, medical devices, diagnostic kits, laboratory reagents, veterinary products and other goods requiring enhanced product security and traceability.

Set configuration

• Label 1 — can carry a unique QR code for individual package identification and access to an online product authentication page.
• Label 2 — can provide additional opening-point protection, secure a second area of the package or serve as a supplementary identification element.

The functions of the two labels can be configured according to the requirements of the project. Both labels may include tamper-indicating features, unique codes, optical structures or other product identification elements.

Key protection features

Digital product authentication

The QR code can be linked to a digital product passport powered by Original.Webrozum. After scanning the code, users can access product information and verify the status of the individual package.

The digital product passport may include:

• product name and description;
• manufacturer information;
• batch or lot number;
• manufacturing and expiry dates;
• instructions for use;
• storage and handling requirements;
• certificates and regulatory documents;
• contact details for the manufacturer or authorised representative.

Analytics and traceability

When connected to the software platform, the system can record the date and time of each scan, approximate location, number of code enquiries and indicators of potentially suspicious activity.

This data can help identify repeated use of packaging, duplicated codes, products appearing outside authorised distribution channels and other irregularities requiring further investigation.
