A QR code connects a physical product with digital information available online. Depending on the project requirements, several levels of detail can be implemented — from a simple link to the manufacturer’s website to an individual Web Passport for each product unit.

1. QR Code Linked to the Brand Website

The simplest option is to print the same QR code on an entire batch of labels. After scanning the code, the customer is directed to the manufacturer’s or brand’s website.

This option can be used to provide quick access to an official website, product catalog, company page, promotional page or other information resource.

2. QR Code Linked to a Product Page

Different QR codes can be used for individual product types, with each code linking to the page of a specific product. The product page can contain an extended description, specifications, photographs, instructions, certificates, recommendations for use and other relevant information.

The same QR code can be used for all units of the same product, article number, model or SKU.

3. Individual Web Passport for Each Product Unit

The most detailed option is to print a unique QR code for every individual product unit. Each code is linked to an individual Product Web Passport and makes it possible to identify a specific package or product.

The Web Passport can contain a serial number, production date, batch number, manufacturer information, product specifications, origin, warranty information, documentation and other data.

Unique serialized QR codes can be used to build product traceability systems, verify product authenticity, monitor distribution channels, support warranty service and establish direct digital interaction with end customers.

QR Code Serialization

With serialization, each label receives its own unique QR code. Codes can be generated in advance, imported from the customer’s information system or generated as part of a digital product identification project.

Serialization can be implemented at the level of an individual product unit, multipack, box, returnable or transport container, or pallet, depending on the requirements of the accounting and traceability system.

What Can a QR Code Contain?

• the address of a brand or manufacturer’s website;
• a link to a specific product page;
• a link to an individual Product Web Passport;
• a unique serial number;
• a product or package identifier;
• links to instructions, documents or certificates;
• data for accounting, identification and traceability systems.

Label parameters, material, QR code size, production quantity, serialization level and Digital Product Passport structure are selected individually according to the customer’s requirements.

Pricing is calculated individually and depends on the label material, dimensions, quantity, printing method, serialization requirements and the scope of the digital part of the project.
