Production Accounting Automation for MDF Furniture Front Manufacturing

Production accounting automation for MDF furniture fronts

Vostok-IT specialists were invited to KiTon, a manufacturer specializing in MDF furniture fronts, to analyze its production processes and develop a production accounting automation concept.

Together with the company’s team, Vostok-IT specialists reviewed the complete manufacturing cycle of a furniture front, analyzed existing workflows, and identified the main operational accounting bottlenecks.

Particular attention was paid to areas where accounting errors and delays could have the greatest impact: lost or delayed orders, incorrect production sequencing, lack of visibility as orders move between production stages, shipment timing, and informing customers about order readiness.

Production survey and process analysis

The first stage of the project was a detailed study of the actual production workflow directly at the manufacturing site.

Vostok-IT specialists worked together with KiTon employees to analyze how each order moved through the production areas, how completed operations were registered, how departments interacted with each other, and how production documents were handled.

Based on the survey, the main process bottlenecks were identified and requirements for the future production accounting system were defined.

Development of the automation concept

Based on the analysis, a production accounting automation project was developed and proposed.

The concept was designed for phased implementation and included several main areas:

This approach made it possible to move beyond the automation of individual production operations and instead build a unified system for monitoring the complete order flow across the enterprise.

Automated workplaces

Automated workplaces were designed for key production areas, enabling employees to register completed operations and transfer real-time information about the actual status of each order to the central system.

Workplace automation reduces manual data entry, improves the timeliness and accuracy of production records, and provides management with up-to-date information about production status.

Production dispatching from order intake to shipment

One of the key objectives of the project was to provide end-to-end production dispatching for the entire order execution cycle — from order acceptance by the sales team through manufacturing and final shipment.

The system makes it possible to monitor order priority, track the movement of products between production areas, and see the actual status of each order at any stage of manufacturing.

Sales managers gain access to current production schedules and can quickly obtain information about the progress of customer orders without repeatedly contacting individual production departments.

Automatic identification in production

Automatic identification technologies simplify the work of production employees and make it possible to register completed operations quickly, without excessive manual data entry.

Barcode identification of orders, parts, and production documents links the physical movement of products with records in the information system and helps reduce operational errors.

Automation results

Production accounting automation improves the efficiency of employees across different departments of the enterprise.

Management receives up-to-date operational information about production status, while sales personnel can monitor order completion schedules and track the progress of each order through the manufacturing process.

Reports are generated automatically from data registered directly during actual production operations.

End-to-end control of the production order

The KiTon project demonstrates that automation in furniture front manufacturing is not limited to accounting for finished products. The greatest effect is achieved when customer orders, production stages, automated workplaces, product identification, and operational control are integrated into a single information environment.

This approach improves production transparency, reduces accounting and coordination errors, and provides employees from different departments with consistent and up-to-date information about the status of every order.
